Richard Lutz
Richard Lutz is one of the founding members of the JFK Scholarship Foundation and has acted as the Secretary since its inception in 1995. Richard received his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from the University of California in Riverside and after serving in the U.S. Army he continued his education and received his Master’s in Business Administration from California State University in Long Beach.
Richard is a former member of the Anaheim Union High School District Board of Trustees, served on the North Orange County Regional Occupational Board. He also has served as a Director on the ARCO Plaza Federal and Pacific Resource Credit Union Boards. He also served on the Cypress College Foundation Board. He has been a member of the La Palma Kiwanis Club since 1998 and has served as president of the club and is currently the secretary of the club’s foundation.
In La Palma he has volunteered on most of the La Palma Days Committees; he and his family have manned the Los Coyotes water station during the July 4th 5K/10K Run for over 20 years; and he has served on La Palma’s Traffic and Safety Committee. He has also served in many positions of leadership at his church at the congregational and synodical levels. In 1999 the Lutz family was honored as the La Palma City Family of the Year and in 2002 Joan and Richard were honored by the Cypress College Foundation as the Americana recipient from La Palma.
Richard and his wife Joan are retired and are proud that the education attained at John F Kennedy High School prepared their three daughters for an easy transition to the college of their choice. He set up the Eva Lutz memorial scholarship in his mother’s name because she always wanted to get a college degree but never had the opportunity. The scholarship supports a student that wants to obtain a degree in the fine or performing arts.
